GTA IV

Well what a week it's been, nay should I say what a month it's been.

The game is finally out now and shops pretty much sold out on the day. With barely an advert in sight, that was some marketing trick Rockstar managed to pull off there.

So how's the game. Simply put, it's tremendous. Okay, here's the long version...

(played on ps3 by the way..)

As with any GTA game the longer you play this the more you'll get out of it, if anyone came up to me and said they hated the game but had only played it for a couple of hours - they'd be brushed aside and any further comments sent direcly to the trashcan.

I've played this now for approximately 7 hours, solid. I'm still on the first island. Why? Am I shit at it? lol

I must have spent about 2 hours on the actual game itself, I find that getting to know the map, where important locations are, tricky road junctions, etc that's all very useful for future missions.

The main difference of course that anyone will notice is the graphics, amazing aren't they. But as we all know graphics don't make a game great, they are only the top layer of a game, supported underneath by the gameplay foundations. A perfect game has both, a shit game has only good graphics, an ultra shit game has neither.

For a start they've changed the whole engine, gone are the pre animated players movements and instead we're treated to on-the-fly collisions and interactions. For instance my guy tripped and rolled down a rugged hill at some point, if this had been a pre set animation the rolling would have been static and unconvincing.

My post will get long so I'll split it up, besides I need to eat right now.

There's a lot to talk about on this game. Don't go too far away!
